CancerEvo is a research group led by David Basanta

We are mathematical modellers who work with biologists and clinicians

We try to understand

  • the ecology of tumors

  • the evolutionary dynamics of cancer progression

  • resistance to treatment

Based at the Moffitt Cancer Center, Florida

PSON pilot grant for Etienne

PSON pilot grant for Etienne

Etienne Baratchart has just been awarded a pilot grant from Moffitt’s PSON grant. The PSON (Physical Sciences in Oncology Network) from the NCI funds research on mathematical and physical approaches to cancer research and Moffitt is one of the centers that was funded to do so, Our PSON center funds a limited number of pilot projects so that people can have a bit of funding to explore very novel ideas even with little preliminary research.

Etienne, together with Daria Miroshnychenko (Marusyk lab) and Shonagh Russell (Gillies lab) will be working on a project that combines a mathematical model with imaging to follow tumor cell lines labelled with barcodes to explore the spread of metastatic cells in cancer. Congratulations guys!
