I am attending a meeting in Plön, Germany. Plön is a beautiful small town that hosts the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology and where one of the directors, Arne Traulsen, together with Sandy Anderson, has organised a meeting about evolution in space and time. If you have access to twitter be sure to search for #CEST15. One of the morning talks today was given by one of our very own: Jake Taylor King. Jake presented our work on osteocyte networks, the structures formed by specialised bone cells formed during bone formation and remodelling. Understanding how these networks are formed during normal bone remodelling allows us to understand how the structure changes when cancer cells disrupt this process. Jake has now produced a model and some hypotheses that we are keen to explore with the help of our experimental collaborators at the Lynch lab.
