Based at the Moffitt Cancer Center, Florida, Cancer Ecology is a small research group led by David Basanta. We are mathematical modellers who work with biologists and clinicians, trying to understand the ecology of tumors and the evolutionary dynamics of cancer progression and resistance to treatment.

Rationality is a foreign country

and apparently the nature of the language we use to make decisions might make us more rational. If you are using a language where you are relatively competent but is not your mother tongue you are more likely to make decisions in a rational way. I can see the logic that adding a barrier of separation beween oneself and the problem would make rational decisions easier so this makes sense. Maybe this is why stating a problem in a formal language (mathematics, programming) is a good step in the path of solving it?
